Climate Care

resourceO5 will be climate neutral

By making resourceO5 climate neutral, BRE will help repair the impact of the CO2 emissions associated with running the event. These include emissions from delegates' travel and also the venue's energy use.

The emissions will be offset through Climate Care, who will reduce an equivalent amount of CO2 emissions through their projects. Climate Care develops projects that avoid, reduce or absorb greenhouse gases through renewable energy, energy efficiency and forest restoration.

Visit the Climate Care website at www.climatecare.org.

INREB exhibitors

INREB harnesses the expertise of leading research and technology organisations to deliver an industry-aligned programme that promotes the development of low carbon technologies and their integration into buildings.

A number of research projects are underway and a selection will be presented at resourceO5. Delegates will be able to discuss the findings and future development of these projects, which are central to the current needs of the industry and strategically important to the future advancement of the sector.

Demonstration of the National Calculation Method for non-domestic buildings

Over the past few months BRE, under contract from ODPM, has been developing the National Calculation Method (NCM) – a tool for complying with the requirements of Part L and the Asset Rating certification requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) for non-domestic buildings. The Method consists of a:

  • calculation engine
  • set of databases containing inference procedures
  • basic user interface for SBEM.

The activity database contains a set of activity parameters for building modelling suitable for detailed dynamic simulation tools and simplified calculation methods. The construction database includes data on materials, structural layers and whole constructions. Data on common wall, floor and roof constructions have been entered, together with the implementation of inference criteria. There is also data for glazing systems.

resourceO5 delegates can see a demonstration of the calculation method and discuss its development and use with the authors.

Book online

Provisional details of the conference programme are now available on www.resource05.com/programme.html and delegates can book online. Visitors to the free exhibition can also register.
